Super Stolie Brings New Songs to Buffalo grove | Pioneer Press

Music and literature are interwoven in "Family in Harmony," Super Stolie's third album of original songs for children.

She noted that because the Illinois Library Association's theme this summer is "Read to the Rhythm," "My plan was to fashion this new album to support that theme," Stolie said. "Most of the songs were written with a literary concept. It might be poetry, there is a spoken word piece on the CD, there's a few songs in Spanish."

Marrying literature to music is a natural concept for Stolie, who was an English major in college. "I've always loved language and reading," she said.

To further engage the kids, the performer said, "I have a very colorful set, a lot of props and I'm offering a lot of volunteer moments."

“[Super Stolie] is as bubbly and energetic in person as she comes across in her songs.  My kids and I love her upbeat songs and playful lyrics. Her lyrics reference the world around her, including many references to life here in Chicago. When I asked Super Stolie what she likes best about performing, she said interacting with the kids.”

“I don’t want to seem like somebody else’s mommy who is here to teach you, boys and girls. … I want to have the image of the cool babysitter where you can kind of get away with stuff, but it’s never going to be bad. We’re here to have fun and you might learn something and you might sing along and jump along and your mom and dad are going to have a good time, too.”
